Coloniality of knowledge is a concept of Peruvian sociologist Anibal Quijano. The concept critiques what proponents call the Eurocentric system of knowledge, education, and modes of thinking.
Coloniality of knowledge raises important epistemological concerns such as:
- who creates
- what knowledge
- for what purpose
- how this knowledge is (ir)relevant on practice
- and how specific knowledges influence my body and my perception of it
Knowledge about the body has been developed since the body became a separate object of thinking. Different societies, cultures, and times have been attending to the body differently, and yet, by contemporary times we are more or less in the same paradigm of body. Or not?
We will use methods and invitations from somatic methods and movement research, as well as improvisational tasks and theoretical input and discussion.
